Joy Norman, 82, most recently of Abilene, but lifelong resident of Rule, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 at Rule Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home in Rule. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness at 20th and Highland in Abilene.
Joy Del Boyd was born in Rule, Texas on January 6, 1930 to Lige and Laura Mae (Thornsberry) Boyd. She married Burton Norman in 1949 in Seymour, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lige and Laura Boyd; 1 brother, Billy Roy Boyd; 1 sister, Mary Francis Boyd; and a granddaughter, Brandy Michelle Norman.
Joy is survived by her husband, Burton Norman of Abilene; 1 daughter, Deborah Christophersen and husband Paul of Kingston, NH; 2 sons, Larry Douglas Norman and wife Debra of Abilene, and Mark Shane Norman and wife Linda of Spartanburg, SC; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
