Dovie Joyce White, life time resident of Haskell, Texas, but most recently of Jacksboro, Texas, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Jacksboro Health Care Center in Jacksboro. Mrs. White was 86.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
One of four children, Dovie Joyce Holley was born in Haskell on May 14, 1927 to Walter and Dora (Carrath) Holley. She married Frank White in Guthrie, Texas on October 27, 1946. The couple moved to Haskell where they remained until Frank's death on December 30, 2002. Mrs. White then moved to Jacksboro to be closer to her family.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was a friend to any one she met. She had a kind hearted soul and was a faithful member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Haskell. Mrs. White was a homemaker.
Along with Frank, Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dora Holley; brother, T-Bo Holley; and sister, Dorothy Blair.
Joyce will be missed by her son, Frank White and wife Diana of Jacksboro, Texas; daughter, Dora Reding and husband James of Seymour, Texas; brother, Bill Holley of Clyde, Texas; 4 grandchildren; Tammy McDorman and husband Gaylon, Stacie Owen and husband Shayne; Frankie Joe White and wife Stephanie and Nathan White and wife Danielle; and 8 great-grandchildren.
