Juany Cribbs Shankles Richards

Juany Richards, 82, of Throckmorton, Texas left her earthly home on May 26, 2018, after a lengthy battle with injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on January 27, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m., on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Elbert, Texas. Burial will follow at the Throckmorton County Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation with the family will be from 11:00-12:00a.m., at the funeral home prior to the service.

Born February 11, 1936, in Olney, TX to Flo Mitchell and Harmon Cribbs of the Kroger community in Throckmorton County. Juany graduated from Throckmorton High School in 1953. She obtained her license as a licensed vocational nurse in 1974. In 1978, Juany received an Associates degree in nursing from Midwestern University and worked as a registered nurse in the Throckmorton and Albany hospitals. Juany joined the Methodist Church during a revival in 1946. She was Baptized in 2007 in the Throckmorton Church of Christ.

In 1955, Juany married Nick Shankles of Collinsville, Alabama. They were married until his death in 2002. Juany is survived by one sister, Linda Huffaker of Lubbock; two daughters, Lajuana and husband Billy Crossland of Huntsville, and Melissa Tatom of Abilene; three granddaughters, Cortney Lucas and husband Jerrod of Cypress, Shelly Crossland of Huntsville, and Brittney Quinones and husband Robert of Okinawa, Japan; four great grandchildren, Tyler Lucas, Jaden Crossland, Abigail and Sophie Quinones.

In 2007, Juany married Tot Richards of Throckmorton, TX. They were married until his death in January 2018. Juany is survived by step daughters, Debbie Leinenbach, Darla Richards, Donna Foster, and their many children and grandchildren.

Juany was preceded in death by Nick Shankles, Tot Richards, and her parents Harmon and Flo Cribbs.

Juany was a member and enjoyed the Throckmorton Red Hats Club. Juany felt the Lord had blessed her all her life giving her good parents, husbands, children, family, friends, and a nursing career she loved.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be given in Juany's name to the Throckmorton Volunteer Fire Department, or Throckmorton County EMS.
