It is with great sadness that the family of Julia Hardy Liles, 72, announces her passing on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Julie was raised in Throckmorton, Texas and graduated valedictorian of the Class of 1965. She received a degree in mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington. She worked at IBM until having kids led her to her true calling – being an incredible, dedicated, loving, and selfless mother to her sons, Kevin and Mark. She raised them teaching faith in God and leading by example. Julie was smart, well-spoken, had a beautiful smile, quick wit, and love for life and the people she encountered. She spent the last 15 years of her life living in Corpus Christi where she enjoyed playing dominoes and other games with her grandkids and, like with her own kids, finding joy in their accomplishments and development. She was a voracious reader of mystery books, but the book she referenced most and kept close at hand was the Bible.
She was preceded in death by her parents H. L. Hardy and Deane Hardy Williams and son Mark Liles.
She is survived by her son Kevin Liles (Amy), grandchildren Kaden Liles and Olivia Liles all of Corpus Christi; sisters Linda Taylor (Bill) of Euless, and Debbie Briles (Steve) of Crowley, and niece Marissa Briles Henson (Kale) of Stephenville.
A memorial service will be held on January 24, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Corpus Christi. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Throckmorton Cemetery, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton.
Memorial donations in memory of Julie may be made to The Salvation Army.
