Katie Mae Nicholson

We are saddened to announce the death of our Beloved Mother and Grandmother, Katie Nicholson a lifelong resident of Rochester, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, July 21,2022, at the First Baptist Church, Rochester, Texas. Burial will follow services at the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6-7:00PM, Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the funeral home, 200 S Lincoln Ave, Rochester, Texas.

Katie Mae Nicholson was born on December 16, 1941, in Alto, Texas to Haywood Brown and Zillie Mae Ross Brown, she was the second born of fifteen siblings whom she loved very much.

On February 25, 1964, in Haskell, Texas she married the love of her life Climmie Roger Nicholson, Sr. She was a beautiful woman, filled with laughter and funny sayings, she loved to be silly especially with her son Pep. She was an excellent mom always caring for us kids, she was a hard worker and by far one of the greatest cooks ever live, she will surely be missed.

She became ill almost five years ago, she fought to the end with V. Kay by her side day and night. She will be missed we love her so much.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, her husband Roger, their children, son, Earnest Ray , and daughter, Beatrice Kay Nicholson.

She leaves behind her son, Jerry Wayne Nicholson (Pep), his partner Nelda Dockins of Rochester, Texas; son, James Ray Brown and wife Tina of Rochester, Texas; daughter, Shirl Hicks (Squinky) and husband Larry of Houston, Texas; daughter, Jaqueline Rincon and husband Richard of Abilene, Texas; V. Kay Nicholson of Rochester, Texas, Clemmie Nicholson of Rochester, Texas and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her brothers and sisters and friends.

She lived with love, forgiveness, and kindness, she taught us to fight life through and know in the end the dream is true.
