Kenneth Austin Rodgers

Kenneth Rodgers passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in the Throckmorton County Memorial Hospital at the age of 82 years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Church of Christ in Throckmorton with Mr. Greg Melton, Mr. Kevin Hull and Mr. Jason Blankenship officiating. Burial will take place immediately following at Throckmorton cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Friday evening, January 2 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home in Throckmorton located at 107 N. Austin.
Kenneth was born near the Brazos River in Young County on December 9, 1932, to Hubert and Belle Witt Rodgers. He graduated from Graham High School in 1950 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in December 1953.
Kenneth and Wanda Sue Laquey were married on January 30, 1954, in Graham, Texas. Four children were born to this couple: Kliff Rodgers, Debbie Rodgers Timmons, Nancy Rodgers Hull and Bob Rodgers.
Kenneth Rodgers was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; one brother; and one granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; 4 children and their spouses; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister; one brother; one sister-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Kenneth was a member of the Throckmorton Church of Christ.
Memorials can be given in Kenneth's name to Manuelito Navajo Children's Home, Inc., 12 Theta Street, Gallup, NM 87301.
