Kenny Tanner

Kenny Tanner, 72, a longtime resident of Rule, Texas , passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, February 23, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Rule, Texas with Rev. Scott Hensley officiating. A burial will follow the service at the Rule Cemetery, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A visitation is planned from 6:00 to 7:00PM, Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the funeral home in Haskell, 304 N. 2nd Street.

Kenny was born January 6, 1951 in Stamford, Texas to Preble (Fouts) and Orville Tanner. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Rule, a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon for many years. He married the love of his life Debbie Wilson on January 2, 1970. He loved to tell everybody that he and Debbie met in 1st grade. He worked as an agent and later became Manager for Farm Bureau Insurance Agency in Haskell and Baylor Counties. He owned Tanner Grocery store in Rule for 25 years. He loved fishing, hunting, and golfing with family friends and watching home movies.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Tanner of Rule; a son, Jason Tanner and wife Amy of Spur; a daughter, Kenna West and husband Brian of Lubbock; two grandsons, Braden Tanner and Dylan West; three granddaughters, Avery Tanner, Madison West, Molly West; one brother, Larry Tanner and family of Missoula, MT., brother-in-law, Jack Wilson and wife Suzie of Olney; many nieces and nephews including, Denise Decker and husband Lee of Abilene, Deborah Louder and husband Jay of Clyde, Robert Holly of Ft. Worth, Lynda Spurlock and husband James of Granbury; many great-nieces and great-nephews including, Taylor Manske, Tanna Manske, Jacob Louder, and Reagan Louder.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Preble and Orville Tanner; two sisters, Mary Holly and Beth Phillips.
