Lawrence Elwood New

Lawrence E. New, 67, recently of Amarillo, Texas passed away Sunday evening, October 19, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Weinert, Texas with Rev. Dan Bullock officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the services at Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Lawrence was born December 12, 1946, in Seymour, Texas to Corinne (Propps) and Eston New. He grew up in Gilliland, Texas and married Ginger Howard on December 30, 1987, in Amarillo. Lawrence developed and perfected Creek Marinades and opened Red Creek Marinade Company in September of 1992. He enjoyed compitition cook offs and won over 125 professional cook off awards. Lawrence was an avid hunter and fisherman and an expert marksman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Corinne and Eston New; and a brother, Jack New.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Ginger Howard New; 2 brothers, Parker New and wife Janice and James New and wife Vicky; mother-in-law, Melba Kreger Howard; sister-in-law, Kim Howard and brother-in-law, Bobby Howard, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Serving as pallbearers for Lawrence are Gary Bain, Rusty Howard, Troy Stallings, Larry Conner, Seth Merriman, and Jeff Conner. Honorary pallbearers are Sean Bain, Mindy Howard, Kourtney Howard, Stephenie Hufnagle, Shawna Bain, and Benny Stallings.
