L.B. Ivey, 86, a longtime resident of Haskell, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Willow Cemetery, Haskell with Mr. John Sam Rike officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017, at the funeral Home, 304 N 2nd Street, Haskell, TX.
L.B. was born December 2, 1930 in Haskell Co., to MaDora (Gray) and Monroe Lunceford Ivey. He married Myrtis Marie Mullins on November 25, 1955 in Haskell, TX. L.B. loved football and was an Allstate football player. He also loved NASCAR and watching Fox News. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and spent five months in Japan as an Infantry Fireteam leader with the 3rd Marine Division. L.B. later retired from Haskell ISD.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (Mullins) Ivey of Haskell; son, Robert Ivey and wife Jami of Athens; daughter, Cindy (Ivey) Fitzharris and husband Kevin of Fort Worth; three grandsons, Christopher Fitzharris, Chad Head, and True Head; three granddaughters, Kelly Fitzharris, Ashtin Ivey, and Savannah Ivey; one great-granddaughter, Nikki Coody; two great-grandsons, Cameron Fitzharris, and Jackson Coody; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dora and M.L. Ivey; four brothers; and two sisters.
