Lea Brewer May

Lea Brewer May, resident of Rule, Texas, passed away Tuesday evening, May 28, 2013 in Haskell. Mrs. May was 88. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Rule with Rev. Scott Hensley and Haily May officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Lea Brewer was born October 30, 1924 in Sunset, Texas to Benjamin Earl and Opal Marie (Moore) Brewer. She married W.G. May in Seymour, Texas on May 8, 1946 and the two made Rule their home. A mother and homemaker first, Lea was also a beautician for many years. She loved her flowers and flower gardens and was known to have the prettiest gardens in Rule. Lea was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rule.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Opal Brewer; husband, W. G. May; brother, J.A. Brewer; and sister, Earlene Kueheler.

Lea is survived by 2 sons, Ron May and wife Linda, and Winston May; brother, Bob Brewer; sister, Annette Stubblefield and husband Kenneth; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers for Lea are Grant May, Cliff Wade, Perry Kuehler, Rick Kuehler, Bart Hirneise, David Purdom, Brad Stubblefield, and Kelly Stubblefield.

Memorials can be given in Lea's name to the First Baptist Church of Rule.
