Lee (Lena) Burson of Grapevine, Texas made the transition to heaven on August 21, 2018 at the age of 91 to join her beloved C.G. Born on August 29, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to Rose Iden and Joseph Sega, Lee lived a full life as a loving wife, mother, grandmommy, great-grandmommy and friend.
In 1946, she fell in love with a handsome sailor at a dance and three months later they were married! Lee and C.G. moved to Haskell, Texas, where Lee traded in city life for life on the farm. The Burson family welcomed her with open arms and took the opportunity to poke some fun at the city girl by telling her how to make Mesquite Bean Pie and tricking her into white washing the inside of the outhouse. She adored being a farmer's wife and loved raising her four children in Haskell.
Lee enjoyed being involved in her kids' and grandkids' lives and could be found teaching Sunday School and cheering from the bleachers! She was an adventurous woman who earned her pilot's license, owned her own business and loved dancing and traveling. Lee was strong, beautiful, brave and kind in everything that she did. She meant so much to so many, and we are grateful that she is at peace and has been reunited with her "handsome sailor" after 29 years.
Lee is survived by her children, Vickie (Euless, TX); Kathie and husband Corky (Wichita Falls, TX); Trey and wife Debi (Haskell, TX); and Debbie and husband Mart (Euless, TX). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.G. Burson, Jr.; her mother, Rose Iden; her father, Joseph Sega; and her aunt, Angie Barberis.
The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at Meadowood Assisted Living where she lived for three years, as well as Encompass Hospice, for their compassionate care.
