Leon Richard Kretschmer, 76, passed away December 13, 2015 at Haskell Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell with Pastor David White officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Tuesday evening, December 15, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Haskell located at 304 N 2nd.
Leon was born August 27, 1939, in Haskell County, Texas to Richard Kretschmer and Anna Clara (Steinfath) Kretschmer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed collecting knives, comic books, marbles, and loved music, playing guitar, singing, hunting, fishing and antiques.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Kretschmer and Anna Clara (Steinfath) Kretschmer; wife, Melba Jean Kretschmer; infant granddaughter, Jeanie Belyeu; infant great-grandchild, Kayden Belyeu.
Leon is survived by his daughter, Lori Renee Tibbels and husband Sherman of Arlington, Texas; grandson, Richard Wayne Belyeu and wife Crystal of Haskell, Texas; granddaughter, Jenny Lynn Cooke of Burkburnett, Texas; five great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Medford and husband Bobby of Haskell, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
