Leona Loveta Turner Hearn

Leona Loveta Turner Hearn, 88, a longtime resident of Rochester, TX, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Rochester with Mr. Jay Martin officiating. Burial will follow services at the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the funeral Home, 304 N 2nd St., Haskell, TX.
Leona was born February 6, 1929 in Donna, TX, to Willie Mae (Goode) and Shores Franklin Turner, Sr. She attended First Methodist Church and First Baptist Church in Rochester. She worked as a Dietician at Rochester School, Haskell Nursing Home, and Knox City Hospital. She lived most of her life in Rochester before moving to Hodges, TX four years ago. She passed away exactly ten years to the day after her daughter Wanda Hearn.
She is survived by two sons, James Strickland and wife Yvonne of Hodges, Paul Strickland and wife Venetia of Rochester; six grandsons, John Strickland, Ricky Strickland, David Strickland, J.D. Hearn, Gary Strickland, and Shane Strickland; three granddaughters, Shar Culbert,
Shawnie Martin, and Lori Hearn; two brothers, Sam Turner, and Kenny Turner; two sisters, Maxine Ingle, and Frankie Franklin; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Shores Turner; son, Gary Lynn Strickland, Sr.; daughter, Wanda Hearn; granddaughter, Tamara Strickland; 1st husband, Iva Strickland; 2nd husband, Dalton Hearn; two infant sons, Glenn Turner and Billie Dale Turner; four sisters, Frances Meier, Molly Lee, Jean Meier, and Ann Wright.
