We are saddened to announce the passing of Leslie Ray Lane of Eagle Mountain Lake, Fort Worth on December 24th, 2021. Graveside services will be held at Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas on December 30th, 2021, at 2:00PM, with Tony Grand officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes Haskell.
Les was born April 17, 1958 in Abilene, Texas. He was an Eagle Scout and graduate of the class of 1976 at Haskell High School. He attended DeVry Institute and earned a degree in electronics. He was employed by Welex of Abilene as an oil well logging supervisor. Later, Les earned certification as a Master Level Nurseryman at Olives Nursery in San Angelo. He later was owner of Enythang Under the Sun Nursery in Haskell. Approximately, over the last two decades he was an independent contractor restoring and remodeling in the metroplex. Les was well known as "Mr Fixit." He enjoyed repairing "Enythang" for anyone and exhibited great compassion for others. His hobbies included horticulture, fishing, riding motorcycles, and creating.
Les is survived by his mother, Peggy Lane of Slaton, sister Lugene Lane Pickering and husband David of Lubbock; brother, Lee Lane and wife Darla of New Braunfels; sister, Lori Lane Kitten of Slaton; nephews and nieces Chad & wife Andi, Clay, & Kaci Pickering, Kaylee & Weston Lane, Blane & wife Tara, Kash & fiancé Kelby, & Hayes Kitten, great nephew and niece Brooks & Blair Pickering.
Aunts Nelda Lane & Pat Rosen and a very special friend Ruby Turner.
He is preceded in death by his father Buddy E. Lane of Haskell and brother-in-law Tracey Kitten of Slaton.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to The First United Methodist Church Haskell, Texas or your favorite charity.
