Letha Marie Trussell Culberth, longtime resident of Haskell, Texas passed away Tuesday evening, January 27, 2015, at Homestead Nursing Home in Baird. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 30 2015, at the Church of Christ in Haskell with Dr. Rusty McLen officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Letha was born November 17, 1922, in Henderson County, Texas to Robert Clayton Trussell and Beulah Mae (Roberson) Trussell. Letha married Elton A. Culberth on September 4, 1942, in Haskell. She loved to sew and garden, volunteered at the Pink Ladies and at the Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and loved her family. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Haskell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beulah Trussell; husband, Elton A. Culbert; one granddaughter, Darla Denise Highnote; four brothers, R.V. Trussell, Jay Trussell, Robert Trussel ; and two sisters, Altha Howeth and Opal Tidrow.
Letha is survived by her daughter, Mary Highnote and David of Abilene,Texas; three grandchildren, David Daron Highnote of Abilene, Texas, Dalton Davis Highnote and Donna Grizzard both of Abilene,Texas; two great-grandchildren, Johannah Hooper of Winters, Texas, Zachary Hooper of Snyder, Texas; three sisters, Jimmie Darden of Haskell, Texas, Betty Hegwood of Tye, Texas, and Lennie McEntire of Potosi, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
