Linda Burson longtime resident of Haskell, Texas passed away July 5, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Mrs. Burson was 66. Please join the family for visitation at the funeral home from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Haskell with Rev. Dusty Garrison officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Linda Sampson was born June 16, 1947 in Wichita Falls, Texas to James and Martha (Mayo) Sampson. She married Tim Burson on August 7, 1965 in Haskell where the two remained for more than 50 years and raised their family. Tim preceded Linda in death on February 27, 2013.
Linda was a beautiful woman inside and out and her faithful heart and spirituality glowed in whatever she did. Linda and Tim were founders of the Treasures of Grace Ministry and the two were dedicated to prison ministry by mailing bibles to inmates and spreading God's word at the prison. She was devoted to Cross Country Emmaus and was passionate in her faith. Linda touched the lives of many people in her glorious and radiant ways and will be missed immensely.
She loved working in the yard and loved people. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Many remember Linda as the first compassionate face you saw in Dr. Cadenhead's office. She worked for many years with Dr. Cadenhead and just recently retired.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, James Sampson; her husband, Tim; and 2 children, Scotty and Andrea Burson.
Linda will be missed by so many, but most importantly her 2 sons, Jimmy Burson and his wife Missy of Haskell and Patrick Burson and his wife Angela of Clyde; grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, Lane, Logan, Mason, Brynn and Luke; her mother, Martha Spitzer and husband Garrett of Haskell; 2 sisters, Phyllis Letz and husband Danny of Old Glory, Laura Andress and husband Charles of Haskell; sisters-in-law, Wanda Rogers of Haskell, and Sherry Carter and husband Chick of Abilene.
Serving as pallbearers for Linda are Adam Coleman, Kent Colley, Joey Kimbrough, David Adams, Stacy Bridges, Andy Griffith, and Chad Gibson.
If desired, memorials can be made in Linda's name to Treasures of Grace Bible/Prison Ministry or Haskell Hero Scholarship Fund.
