Lois Cypert, 100, a longtime resident of Knox City, TX, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019. A graveside service will be held at 10:00a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Knox City Cemetery, with Rev. James Carroll officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the funeral home, 210 Ave A., Knox City, TX.
Lois was born March 18, 1919 in Weinert, Texas to Mettie (Holly) and Homer Hawes. She married Verlin Cypert on October 8, 1938 in Haskell Co., TX. Lois served as president, vice president, and secretary for First United Methodist Women. She served the Lions Club for over 45 years. She loved gardening and spending time with her family and her church family.
She is survived by son, Jerald C. Cypert of Ennis, TX and; Lanny T. Cypert of Clovis, NM; brother, Jerry Hawes of Georgetown, NM; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mettie and Homer Hawes, husband, Verlin Cypert; son, Roy W. Cypert; and three brothers, Rex Hawes James Hawes, and J.C, Hawes.
Memorials can be given in Lois' name to the First United Methodist Church, Knox City.
