Lynn Thornhill

Lynn Wayne Thornhill passed away on February 25, 2024, in Haskell, TX.  A memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes in Haskell.

Lynn was born March 8, 1945, in Seymour, TX, to Hubert and Sybil (Caldwell) Thornhill. Lynn graduated from Seymour High School in 1963. He earned his Bachelor's degree in business and accounting from Southern Methodist University in 1967.  Lynn played football at SMU on scholarship and was a part of the Mustangs' success throughout his time there with the pinnacle coming in 1966 when the team won the title of Southwestern Conference Champions.  After college Lynn was drafted into the United States Army, where he served for two years, including service in Vietnam. Lynn was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music. He has donated many books to the Haskell Library.  Lynn is remembered fondly by friends and family, and his contagious and joyful laughter will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Carrington, and husband, Trey of Throckmorton; brother-in-law, Jerry Hayley of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Janice Thornhill of Seymour; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Sybil Thornhill; two sisters, Wanda Young, and Billie Hayley; and one brother, Charles Thornhill and brother-in-law, Newman Young.
