Margaret Frances Bird, 79, life-time resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Eastside Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Tuesday evening, October 6, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas.
Margaret was born on February 4, 1936, in Haskell, Texas, to Mary Frances "Molly" (Rodges) and John Richard "J.R." Darden. Margaret married Wallace Bird on June 18, 1954. She loved gardening, sewing, and going to the grandchildren sporting events. She specially loved watching them play basketball. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Frances "Molly" (Rodges) Darden and John Richard "J.R." Darden; four brothers, Clarence, Orville, Clifford, and Glenn; sister, Viola Brueggeman.
She is survived by her husband, Wallace Bird; daughter, Dawn Rodela and her husband Raymond of Haskell, Texas; 2 sons, Ricky Bird and his wife Sharon of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Steven Bird and his wife Anita of Haskell, Texas; brother, Curtis Darden and his wife Peggy of Haskell, Texas; three sister-in-laws, Sarah Jane Darden, Jimmie Darden, and Geral Darden; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
