Margie Marie Brown Barrington passed away November 9, 2022, after a brief battle with pneumonia at Hendrick's Hospital in Abilene, Texas. Margie was born December 2, 1933, to Tera Bell Mills Brown and David Lee Brown in Maud, Texas. Margie married Eddie Alvin Barrington on August 10, 1950. They lived in Throckmorton the rest of their lives.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather A.L. Brown, her husband Eddie Alvin Barrington, her sister Jonell Satterfield, and two brothers Bill Holiday and Stanley Brown.
Margie is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Barr of Killeen, Texas. She is also survived by three children, four granddaughters and two great granddaughters. They are son Joe Ed Barrington and wife JJ of Albany, Texas and his daughter Jessica Pryor and husband Mike and great granddaughters Eden Stone and Adlee Stone, a daughter, Dr. Brenda Mendiola and husband Dennis of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and their daughters, Lindsey Wright and husband Michael and Lauren Cook and husband Andrew, and son Terry Don Barrington and wife Angela of Throckmorton and their daughter Savannah Whitehead and husband Tyler.
Margie was a homemaker. She devoted her life to raising her three children and keeping the books for her husband for the 50 years he ran Eddie's Welding Service. Margie loved to cook for family and friends and the family has many happy memories of meals shared around the big table. Lucky was the person who happened along when she was frying chicken or chicken fried steak.
Simple things like eating strawberry ice cream, sitting on the patio watching the birds, eating the heart out of a watermelon, and working crossword puzzles brought joy to Margie. She surrounded herself with books, cards from family and friends, antiques, and other collectibles. More than anything, Margie loved her two sons, daughter, four granddaughters, and two great granddaughters. She particularly enjoyed attending the annual Barrington Reunion and she helped organize the event for many years.
The family asks that donations be made to The Throckmorton School Foundation for Scholarships or the First Baptist Church kitchen fund.
