Margie Green Fannin, 92, a longtime resident of Rule, Texas, passed away on December 5, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Rule Cemetery with Rev. Scott Hensley officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.
Margie was born February 14, 1928 in Haskell Co., Texas to Louella (Hanna) and John Green. She graduated high school from Rochester, TX, and later married Melvin Fannin on February 22, 1946 in Rochester. Margie retired from Rule ISD, and was later employed by Smith Family Funeral Homes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rule for 73 years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and playing bridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Swenson and husband Phil of Stamford; son, Gary Fannin and wife Kay of Corpus Christi; granddaughter, Angela Stewart of Lake Jackson; grandson, Phil Swenson, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH; 3 great grandsons, K.J. Stewart and wife Hayley of Bentonville, AR, Ty Stewart and wife Abigail of Knoxville, TN, Matt Stewart of Lubbock; step-grandson, Casey Profit Corpus Christi; sister, Jean Hammer and husband James of Bowie; numerous nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louella and John Green; husband, Melvin Fannin; 2 sisters, Norma Lou Florence, Dorothy Nash; 2 brothers, Buford Green, and Alfred Green.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Country Elegance in Stamford.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Margie's name to the First Baptist Church in Rule, or to a charity of your choice.
