Mario Perales Alvarez Sr.

Mario Perales Alvarez, Sr, 72, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in Denton, TX. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 600 S. 7th Street, in Haskell, TX, with Rev. Rocky Gonzales, Jr. officiating, cremation services to follow. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00PM, Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas.

Mario was born February 13, 1951, in Robstown, TX, to Guadalupe and Rosa (Perales) Alvarez. He served in the U. S. Army and was an avid pool player, winning many trophies, and was well known in the billiard community. He also enjoyed fishing and being with his family.

Mario is survived by son, Mario Alvarez, Jr of Denton; daughter, Priscilla Alvarez of Haskell; son, Domingo Gonzalez of Lewisville; sister, Rosa Alvarez; 4 brothers, Guadalupe Alvarez, Alberto Alvarez, Alvino Alvarez and Roy Alvarez, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He is preceded by his parents, Rosa and Guadalupe Alvarez; and brother, Ray Alvarez.
