Marsha Whittemore, resident of Rule, Texas passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Mrs. Whittemore was 82. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Rule Cemetery in Rule with Rev. Paul Irby officiating. Visitation is planned for Thursday evening, April 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Rule. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Marechal Niel "Marsha" Goodman was born September 30, 1930 in Linden, Texas to Fred W. and Hettie (Hines) Goodman. Marsha moved to Rule in 1974 and worked at Holden-McCauley Funeral Home for 17 years. She was a member of numerous clubs but her most gratifying is the Experience Citizen Center which she pioneered from the beginning. Marsha was a member of Eastside Baptist Church where she also worked as the church secretary.
Marsha is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Hettie Goodman; her brother, Fritzie Goodman; granddaughter, Shannon McKenzie; and a great-grandson, Lakin Rosenquist.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Doy Jeter and husband Rod of Haskell, Karen Marshall and husband Jimmy of Baggs, WI, and Tommi Barbee and husband Larry of Haskell; 1 son, Mark Whittemore of Comfort, Texas; sister, Marianna Whittemore and sister-in-law, Frankie Goodman both of Odessa, Texas; brother-in-law C.W. Whittemore and wife Jane of Stamford, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Shana Rosenquist, Shayne Mckenzie, Mckenna Smith, Dustin Threet, Joshua Barbee; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
