Martha Sue (Smith) Mccurley

Martha Sue (Smith) McCurley, 83, a long time resident of Knox County went to meet her Lord on Thursday, March 25, 2021. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Haskell, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 1:30p.m with Rev. Cyle Clayton officiating. Burial will follow services at Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A visitation is planned from 10:00-11:00a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the funeral home, 304 N. 2nd St., Haskell, TX.

Sue was born February 1, 1938 in Knox City, TX to E. Hob Smith and Lois (Mansell). She married Jim McCurley on August 19, 2000 in Knox City.

She loved the Lord and she loved her church. She was a member of Past Present Knox City Study Club, and Who's Who in American Women. In 1995-1996 she was Lay Director of the Cross County Emmaus Community: Ladies Walk #24; among many other accomplishments Sue also taught ladies bible study classes and many other study groups. From 1979-2021 she worked at Smith Funeral Home in Knox City, and later for Smith Family Funeral Homes. Sue's greatest blessing is her wonderful loving family.

She is survived by her son, Cyle Clayton and wife Denise; daughter, Christi Snodgrass and husband Mark; and 2 granddaughters, Chellie Killian and husband Cody, Claire Snodgrass; 2 grandsons, Rees Clayton, Luke Snodgrass; 2 step sons, Craig McCurley and wife Shari, Matthew McCurley and wife Miranda, and their children, Cullen, Cale, Carys, Charlotte, Terrell Lee, Jack Truman, Stockton Dean, and Raegan Carol.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Hob and Lois Smith; husband, Jim McCurley; and brother, Dan Smith.
