Mary Ann Green went home to be with The Lord. She passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015, in Throckmorton, Texas. Mary Ann was 72.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, at Smith Family Funeral Homes in Throckmorton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 7, at First Baptist Church of Throckmorton, Texas. Burial will be immediately after at Throckmorton cemetery.

Mary Ann was born on May 4, 1942, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Thomas E. Graves and Annie Yoder Graves. She lived in Chickasha Oklahoma; Kermit, Texas; raised her 6 children in Albany, Texas; and eventually settled in Throckmorton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her late husband Hugh Green of Albany, Texas.

She was the youngest of 11 children. She was preceded in death by sisters Blanch Phillips, Lorene Springfield, and Maudie Wickham; brothers Orville Graves, Carl Graves, Jimmie Graves, Floyd Graves, and Thomas Graves. She is survived by one sister Bessie (Beth) Burkhart and one brother Robert Graves.


Mary Ann spent most of her life as a devoted mother, wife, and homemaker. While living in Throckmorton, at the age of 50, Mary Ann earned her Licensed Vocational Nursing degree from Vernon Regional Junior College. She was employed by Throckmorton Nursing Home for several years. She loved caring for her patients and always wanted to make their lives better. Mary Ann was a Godly woman and was a member of First Baptist Church of Throckmorton where she found joy in serving The Lord. She was a selfless, nurturing, kind-hearted, and loving friend, mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She recently said that the happiest time in her life was when she was raising her children and that they were her greatest accomplishment.

She is survived by 6 children: daughter Diane Carroll and husband Will of Throckmorton, Texas; Della Beasley and husband Craig of Abilene, Texas; Larry Don Latimer and wife Kristi of Lamesa, Texas; Wesley Eugene Latimer and wife Sharon of Wichita Falls, Texas; Kevin Duane Latimer and wife Tina of Lubbock, Texas; and Robert Dale Latimer of Ft. Worth, Texas. She was extremely blessed with 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
