Mary Laredo Boling Messenger, 81, a longtime resident of Comanche, TX, passed from this life Friday, March 17, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the Church of Christ, Throckmorton with Mr. Curtis Timmons officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Throckmorton cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton. A visitation is planned from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017, at the funeral home, 107 N Austin., Throckmorton, TX.
Mary (Laredo) was born on November 9, 1935, in the rural community of Ibex, near Breckenridge, TX. Mary was one of 7 children of John B. Boling and Mellie Parker Boling of Albany, TX. She married Johnnie James Messenger on July 10, 1954. They were married for 58 years before Johnnie preceded her in death on June 2, 2012. Mary (Laredo) and Johnnie were long-time residents of Throckmorton before moving to Comanche.
Mary (Laredo) was a caring mother of four children and their families: Janie Bell of Abilene, TX; Laura & John Shiels of Benbrook, TX; Diane and Eddie Bailey of Leander, TX and Dewayne Messenger and Ray Knapp of Tulsa, OK. She was the grandmother of 8 grandchildren: Heath Scrogum, Kristi Scrogum Shott, Cody Scrogum, Marissa Parks Robledo, Ryan Parks, Danielle Bailey Thomas, Derek Bailey, and Dawson Bailey. She had 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to the memories she leaves her children and grandchildren Mary was well known for her famous dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls that graced every family gathering.
She is survived by her sister: Berta Surrey, of Crosby, TX; and 2 brothers: John Boling, of Victoria, TX; and James Boling of Andrews, TX.
She is proceeded in death by 3 siblings: Patsy O' Daniel, of Odessa, TX; Ralph Boling, of Albany, TX; and Louise Stewart of Graham, TX.
