Mary Jo Sikes, 84, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Woodson Cemetery at 1:00PM under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Mary was born February 11, 1938 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Aline (Sconyers) and Doris Young. She grew up in Hugo, Oklahoma and Abilene then she lived in Lubbock, Woodson, Bowie, Clarksville, and Knox City before later moving to Anson. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, traveling and music by Don Williams. She loved traveling by planes, trains and automobiles. She cared for her family greatly; her pride and joy were her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved her fur babies Betsy, Bonzo, and Junior and Atlas. Mary loved nature and the colors found in it. She also loved scarves. She was a doer and she loved to work. She worked as a beautician for many years. She had a zest for life. Most importantly, she was a woman of faith in The Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Elliston, Anita Weaver and husband Terry; one granddaughter, Meggan Edwards; one grandson, Chace Galloway and wife Jaime; two great granddaughters, Emmalyn Edwards, Dansile Galloway; three great grandsons, Kael Edwards, Grayson Edwards, Bannock Galloway; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special gratitude for the special love and care by: Rachel Ramirez with Touching Hearts, Mafe, Barbara, Ryan, Gwen, Janeta, Luz and Christy, as well as Anson Wellness Clinic and Anson General Hospital.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Aline and Doris Young; husband, Dan Sikes; and brother Carl Young.

Memorials may be made in Mary's name to: Anson Meals on Wheels 1225 Ave. J, Anson, Texas 79501, and Impact Church Houston 16310 Chimney Rock RD, Houston, Texas 77053, and Woodson Cemetery.
