Mattie White left this life to go to a better place on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the age of 93 years after having lived a long, productive, happy life. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Haskell Church of Christ with her son-in-law, Mr. Jim Hackney and grandson, Mr. Kyle White, officiating. Mattie was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on June 27, 1920, to J O Jones and Ida Frazier Jones. Shortly thereafter, the family loaded up their covered wagon and headed for Texas. They eventually settled in their new home in Rochester, TX. In her early years, Mattie was a hard worker who spent many days pulling cotton with her siblings. She was also a noted soft ball pitcher.

On June 1, 1940, she married D I White. They spent all of their married life farming in Haskell County. They were blessed with 2 children, Jimmy and Sue. Mattie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. The flowers she grew in her yard were her pride and joy. She loved to work in her yard, play dominoes, canasta and many other games. She also loved her church. Many preachers have been blessed to sit around her dinner table. She was first a member of the Weinert Church of Christ and in later years the Haskell Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy White and his wife Gayle of Rochester, Tx; her daughter Sue White Hackney and husband Jim of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren Kyle White (Loutina), Kristi White Tankersley (Payton), Kevin White (Amy), Todd Hackney (Stacy) and Talanda Hackney Dorsey (Tommy); great-grandchildren Daniel Earl, Briley White, Sean Hackney, Suzy Lewis, Brogan White, Mason Lewis, Brody White, Jaxon White; sister Ruth Sellers; and brother Don Jones; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

She is preceded in death by her husband D I White; her parents; and 8 siblings.
She was a blessing to all who knew her.
