Mavis Marion Middleton, resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away Friday evening, December 19, 2014, at Haskell Memorial Hospital in Haskell, Texas. Mrs. Middleton was 83. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship Church in Haskell with Rev. Morris Johnson and Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating.
Mavis Marion Sorrells was born in Obar, New Mexico on December 10, 1931, to Pauline and William Elvin Sorrells. She married Gentry Middleton on December 31, 1950 at Sweet Home Baptist in Rule, Texas. Mavis was a wonderful seamstress, cook, and house keeper. She enjoyed scrapbooking, loved decorating her home, and playing cards.
Mavis is preceded in death by her parents, William and Pauline Sorrells; husband, Gentry Middleton; and brothers, Jerry Sorrells, Charles Sorrells, and Doyle Sorrells.
She is survived by her two daughters, Beth Guess and husband Mike Guess of Haskell, Texas and Paula Fincher and husband Joe Fincher of Spur, Texas; three grandsons, Chan Guess and his wife Bridget of Haskell, Texas, Mart Guess and wife Julie of Chicago, Illinois, and Les Fincher and wife Tammy of Spur, Texas; one granddaughter, Carrie Hiebert and her husband Michael of Idalou, Texas; four great-granddaughters, Jacee Guess and Cami Guess both of Haskell, Texas, Addie Hiebert of Idalou, Texas and Ramey Fincher of Spur, Texas; six great-grandsons, Tyler Fincher, Chase Fincher, and Seth Fincher all of Spur, Texas, Landon Hiebert, Leyton Hiebert, and Austin all of Idalou, Texas; sister, Sonja Green of Stinnet, Texas; and very important caregivers, Birdie Goudeau and Brittany Jordan.
