Maydell Corley was born September 3, 1936 to Earl and Zula Hanson in Rochester, TX. She grew up with her sisters Earlene and Shelley. Maydell participated in basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading at Rochester High School and married her high school sweetheart, Sidney Corley, August 1, 1954.

After his brief military assignment in Honolulu, HI, Sid and Maydell welcomed their first child, Michal Sidney. They moved to Midland in 1957 which was their home for almost 4 decades. This love of music prompted her to open a music store, M & M Music, with her daughter in 1987 which served the community until 1994. She was also a member and officer of the Music Teachers Association.

They retired to Dallas in 2005 in response to Sid's failing health. Being near their family was a gift for over a decade to come.

Maydell served as a Sunday School teacher, missions Leader, and choir member at Calvary Baptist Church and Crestview Baptist Church.
