Melba Jean McNiel, 71, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Primitive Baptist Church in Rule, Texas with Rev. James Anderson officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Monday, March 14, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home located at 600 Robins Ave., Rule, Texas.
Melba was born January 28, 1945 in Haskell, Texas to Dan Anderson and Agnes Lorene (Reed) Anderson. She was raised in Rule, Texas and on August 31, 1973 in Brownfield, Texas she married Delbert McNiel and in 1984 they made their home in Snyder, Texas. Melba enjoyed flowers, plants, woodwork, shopping, making stuff look better, loved jewelry, antiques, her puppies and skyping with her grandson.
Melba is survived by her husband, Delbert McNiel of Snyder, Texas; two sons, Carrol McNiel and wife Jwan Morgan of Sweetwater, Texas and Shannon Del McNiel and wife Jaclyn of Port Orchard, Washington; four brothers, Danny Anderson, James Anderson, Garland Anderson and Calvin Anderson; sister, Anita Yar Brough; seven grandkids; four great - grandkids; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan Anderson and Agnes Lorene (Reed) Anderson; two daughters, Cynthia McCann and Mona Stegall; three brothers, Billy Wayne Anderson, Marvin Anderson and Kenneth Anderson; and sister, Leona Buker.
