Melvin "Bud" Turnbow, longtime resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Haskell Memorial Hospital in Haskell, Texas. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at the Eastside Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas with Rev. Darrell Feemster officiating and Rev. Terry Bunch assisting. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Monday evening, February 22, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 304 North Second Street.
Melvin was born October 27, 1930, to Melvin Turnbow and MaeBell (Wheeler) Turnbow in Haskell, Texas. He married Wanda (Bivins) on August 11, 1956, in Tye, Texas. Melvin was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and loved his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mae Bell Turnbow; wife, Wanda Turnbow; and three sisters, Florence Larned, Geraldine Furrh, and Nita Leggett.
Melvin is survived by his four daughters, Sharon Bird and husband Ricky of Corpus Christi, Texas, Tamala Ivy and husband Lanny of Anson, Texas, Leann Little and husband Andy of San Antonio, Texas, and Gina Meinzer and husband Tyke of Haskell, Texas; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother, W.J. "Dub" Turnbow of St. Robert, Missouri; sister, Loretta Hatfield of Haskell, Texas; sister, Virginia Trussell of Strawn, Texas; brother, Gary Turnbow of Abilene, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
