Merardo C. Salinas, 91, a longtime resident of Rochester, TX, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Merardo was born October 25, 1924 in Falfurrias, TX to Victoria (Cruz) and Victor Salinas, Sr. He married Paula Hernandez on April 20, 1948 in Falfurrias. He loved working, farming, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by four sons, Merardo Salinas, Jr. of Rochester, Leo Salinas of Rochester, Ruben Salinas of Midland, and Thomas Salinas of Abilene; three daughters, Suzanna Salinas of Abilene, Juanita Salinas of Abilene, Anna Maria Salinas of Merkel; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife; his son, Alberto Salinas; his daughter, Susanna Salinas; his sister, Rafaela Moreno; and two brothers, Romalo Salinas and Juan Salinas.
