Mildred Alva Jones Merrill, 93, of Granbury, passed away August 10, 2013 in Granbury, Texas surrounded by her family. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the Throckmorton Cemetery, Throckmorton, Texas with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. A visitation will be at Smith Family Funeral Home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. until service time.
Mildred was born to Clinton (Dick) and Odessa Rogers Jones on July 3, 1920 and lived most of her life in Texas. Mildred embraced the Christian faith as a young adult. Her faith was the defining moment of her life. Her faith reached far and wide to include missionary trips to the corners of the earth and along with her family were some of her greatest pride. Mildred was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury. She was also a member of the Friends of Faith Sunday school class that was so faithful in visiting and praying for her.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Merrill, her sisters Eunice Estridge and Frances Leonard and her brother Jim Jones.
She is survived by her four sons, Dick Merrill of Mesquite, NV, Roger Merrill of Granbury, Texas, Ron Merrill of Houston, Texas and Jim Merrill of Hurst, Texas, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family commits Mildred's spirit to her Heavenly Father.
