Nell D. Horton-Williams

September 13, 1926 — March 3, 2021

Nell Williams, 94, a longtime resident of Rule, Texas passed away, Wednesday, March 3, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM, Sunday, March 7, 2021, at the First Baptist Church, Rule with Rev. Scott Hensley officiating. Burial will follow services at Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 7:00-8:00PM at the funeral home, 600 Robins Ave, Rule.

Nell was born September 13, 1926 in Stonewall CO., Texas to Clarence Horton and Grace (Galloway). She married J.R. Williams on January 19, 1949 in Spur, TX. She worked as a Bookkeeper for the Rule Coop for 25 years. She enjoyed music and singing with her family. Nell especially loved her kids and grandkids. She and her husband were members of the Baptist Church Builders of Texas. She was always active in her church and with church activities all over.

She is survived by her son, Marlon Williams and wife RuthAnn of Caddo; 3 daughters, D'Lynn Kirkland and husband Bruce of Lamesa, Lanell Trussell and husband Chris of Rankin, Wynette Yarborough of Rankin; 13 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Wima Davis of Carthage, La Juana Love of Lubbock; brother, Tud Horton of Long Beach, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Grace Horton; husband, J.R. Williams; grandson, Joshua Yarborough; 1 sister, and 4 brothers.

Memorials may be made in Nell's honor to The Briles Foundation, First Baptist Church of Rule, or West Texas Rehab.
