Norval "Joe" Larned

January 8, 1932 — August 13, 2020

Norval Joe Larned, 88, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2020, at the Munday Nursing Home where he was affectionally known as "Papa Joe". He was also known as "Snooky Joe" among relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Willow Cemetery, Haskell with Mrs. Haley Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.

Joe was born January 8, 1932 to Maggie (Tidwell) and Gordon Larned. He attended Paint Creek School. Joe retired in 1992 from West Texas Utilities after 39 years of being a dedicated employee. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Haskell, TX. He loved sports; watched wrestling on tv, and was an avid fan of the Haskell Indian football team. He loved to take care of his cattle and chickens, and gather the eggs. Joe enjoyed playing dominos, and loved children.

Joe married Florence (Ammons) on August 14, 1954 in Haskell County, and they had a daughter, Cathy Lou. They preceded him in death. Joe later married Eunice (Hutchinson) Cox on June 3, 2000 in Haskell, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2018. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Gordon Larned; three brothers, John, Dee, and Don Larned; two sisters, Frances Jarman and Tobie Davis; and two step grandsons, Justin Cox and Connor Mac Long.

He is survived by his son, Kendal Larned of Miami Florida; three step-sons, Bart Cox of Granbury, Michael Cox of Sweetwater, and Randy Cox of Arlington, sisters-in-law, Christine Meers, Jean (Curd) Booth, and Ruth Larned; brothers-in-law, Jerry Hutchinson, and Lester Hutchinson; numerous step grandchildren, and great grandchildren; special care giver, Phillis Urbanczyk.
