Oscar Weldon Gideon

Oscar Weldon Gideon, 98, a longtime resident of Benjamin, TX, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020. A private graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Benjamin Cemetery with Mr. Dennis Duke officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. There will be no public viewing or visitation, however online condolences can be shared with the family at www.smithfamilyfh.com.

Oscar was born December 30, 1921 in Temple, OK, to Pearl Ellen (Green) and Oscar Mark Gideon. Oscar enjoyed bird hunting around Benjamin, gardening, and tinkering with just about anything. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his two sons, Mike Gideon of Bryan, TX, and Oscar Gideon and wife Shannon of Gilbert, AZ; two daughters, Lana Gideon of Seymour; and Sue Terry and husband Dave of Southlake; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Wynn and husband Ed of Knox City; numerous nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded ind death by his parents, Pearl and Oscar Gideon; four brothers, James Gideon, Cecil Gideon, Marshall Gideon, Hollis Gideon, and Jane Gideon.
