Oscar Mangis

Oscar Mangis, 84, a lifelong resident of Knox City, TX, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021. A private graveside service will be held for family on, Friday, January 22, 2021. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-8:00PM, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the funeral home, 210 Avenue A., Knox City, TX.

Oscar was born April 22, 1936 in Knox City, TX to Mary Lanona (Cooper) and Oscar Mangis, Sr. He married Aletta Lavoris (Large) on December 24, 1955 in Knox City and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Knox City. Oscar loved reading his Bible, and enjoyed doing yard work

He is survived by his wife, Leta L. Mangis of Knox City; daughter, Sherry L. Jackson and husband Sammy of Bridgeport; son, Tommy O. Mangis of Knox City; grandson, Wesley A. Jackson and wife Jamie of Ft. Worth; 2 granddaughters, Sherrill A. Hong and husband Kenny of Bridgeport, Shannon M. Brown and husband Chad of Snyder; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Kenzie, K.J., Aedyn, Tye, Maeci, and Madi; nephew, Jimmy Rushing and wife Victoria of Houston and their children, Alexandra, Madison, and James.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mary Mangis, Sr.; sister, Marie Rushing; and niece, Judy Clifton.
