Ozzie "Buddy" Tibbets, 78, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Rochester. A visitation will be held at the funeral home, 200 Lincoln St, Rochester, Saturday, April 22, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
Buddy was born on February 13, 1945, in Knox City, to Ozzie and Dela Tibbets. He was raised in Rochester and married his best friend on May 27, 1965, in Rochester. Together they had 5 children who he loved with all his heart. A perfectionist in his work, he was well known for being a master carpenter. He could tell the best stories and he loved to share the word of Jesus Christ. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was always praying for others. His hobbies included playing his guitar and singing. Buddy looked forward to visits from his grandchildren and was extremely proud of them, always making sure they knew he loved them.
Left to cherish his memories are his lifelong best friend and mother of his children, Linda Hatfield Tibbets of Baird; son, Heath Tibbets and wife Shanna of Idalou; daughters, Angela Mitchell and husband Goober of Baird, Amy McIntire and husband Kyle of Anson, and Laura Bacon and husband Billy of Anson; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Travis Tibbets of Pampa; sister, Darlene McKinley of Trinity; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Ozzie Jessie Tibbets and Dela Massengale Tibbets and son, Cody Jess Tibbets.
