Patricia (Pat) Glenn, 93, formerly of Throckmorton, Texas and lately of Frisco, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Pat experienced all of the stages of Alzheimer's disease over the past 11 years and lived them in a skilled nursing facility, Prairie Estates (Frisco, TX), close to her granddaughter's family. Thankfully the disease did not take her sweet, gentle spirit and she could always be found with sparkles in her eyes and a smile on her face. A private, family graveside service will take place at Throckmorton Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton.
Pat was born on May 9, 1927 in Lakeland, Florida to the late D.B. Logue and Christine Jones. Pat had a servant's heart and was a caregiver by nature. She worked for many years in the healthcare field taking care of those that could not take care of themselves. Pat was loving and kind and a wonderful example for her children and grandchildren of how to show compassion and God's grace to others. She was tenderhearted and would cry at the drop of a hat if she saw someone else crying or if she was simply watching a sappy movie or reading a sentimental novel. Pat loved children and the elderly and was adored by them in return. She was a true gift to the world and enriched the lives of many people who knew her. Pat will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the nurses of Prairie Estates.
Pat's life passion was her family and she enjoyed spoiling them every chance she got. She put her family before herself…always. Pat was a life changer for her grandchildren, Biggs and Mandy. While Biggs and Mandy were growing up, Pat made sure they experienced memorable summers and weekends in Throckmorton, joyful holidays with family, and adventurous trips and vacations. She and R.A. Glenn (married 1950-1988) purchased more horses, go-carts, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, motorcycles and random pets for Biggs and Mandy than can be counted on both hands.
Pat was creative and artistic and appreciated all kinds of crafting activities, especially cooking, painting, knitting and sewing. She held her faith dear to her heart and was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church.
Pat was a fighter and endured many heartaches during her lifetime. She made it through the death of both of her children, the death of her two siblings and her parents. Pat went through a divorce after 38 years of marriage which caused her to reinvent her life at age 61. She also conquered breast cancer at the age of 66 after going through a mastectomy and chemotherapy. When Pat was 82, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Even though Alzheimer's robbed Pat of her memories and eventually her faculties, she stayed gentle and loving. Through all of the heartaches, Pat kept her kind, caring nature and relied on her trust in the Lord to strengthen and sustain her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Annette Glenn Bird, and her son, Ricky Glenn; sister Jacqueline Handley, and brother Jerry Logue.
She is survived by her grandson Biggs Bird (Jami) and her granddaughter Mandy Bird Phalen (Mark). Her four great-grandchildren include: Hannah, Olivia, Chase and Luke.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Throckmorton Senior Citizen Center in honor of Pat Glenn.
