Patricia Lynn (Tinka) Greer Herricks Nelson, 74, a longtime resident of Weinert and Haskell went to be with her Lord Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Hendricks Hospice Care in Abilene. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Eastside Baptist Church, Haskell with Rev. Terry Bunch and Rev. Paul Chambers officiating. Burial will follow services at the Weinert Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Monday June 26, 2017 at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd St, Haskell, TX.
Tinka was born September 12, 1942 in Mexia, TX to Lois Juanita Denton Greer Teague and Levi Queston Greer. She attended Weinert Foursquare Church and Eastside Baptist Church of Haskell.
Tinka married Jimmy Rex Herricks October 26, 1958 in Grandfield, Oklahoma. They lived and raised their family in Weinert, Texas where she also worked as a beauty operator for many years. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1991.
Tinka married D.W. (Red) Nelson April 2, 2000 in Rochester, Texas. When not spending time with friends and family, they enjoyed traveling in their RV and competing in cook-offs.
She will be missed by her husband, Red Nelson of Haskell; children, Tammy Kimmel of Castroville, Todd Herricks of Haskell, and Tina and David Adams of Haskell; grandchildren, Tiffany Loving, Josh Kimmel, Colton Kimmel, Jacob Herricks, Sara and Layne Hutchens, Shawn Duncan, Ashley Adams, and Kylie Adams; great grandchildren, Shelby Stiewert, and Shyler Loving; sisters-in-law, Barbara and Andy Jenkins, and Linda Scoggins; brother-in-law, Jimmy Nelson; daughter-in-law. Barbette and Casey Wills and their children Laci and Henry Stamm, Hannah and Kyle Zunker, and J.R. Reeves; Aunt, Billie Ray Jorda; nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very special caregiver, Birdie Goudeau.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rex Herricks; parents, Lois Teague and Levi Greer; brother, Joel Greer; stepfather, Charlie Teague; and sister-in-law, Shirley Hudgens Weston.
