Paul Lester Giles

Paul Lester Giles, 80, passed away at his home in Throckmorton, TX, May 30, 2023, with his beloved wife at his side. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Smith Family Funeral Homes, 107 N Austin, Throckmorton, TX.

Paul Lester Giles was born in Oakdale, Louisiana, February 7, 1943, to Murphy Giles and Flora Peloquin. He married the love of his life , Wanda Lou Harvin, on May 8, 1961. They had 2 children, Stephanie Giles (Russell) of Victoria, TX and Paul Darryl Giles of Harlingen, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy Giles and Flora Peloquin Giles, and his sister Lana Rene Rowland.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 62 years, Wanda Giles of Throckmorton, TX; his daughter, Stephanie and her husband Brian Russell; grandson, Joshua Stinson and his wife Kyla and their children, Jaden, Kinlee, and Asher; granddaughter, Stephanie Stinson, and grandson, Bryan Russell III and his wife Sabrea;  his son, Paul D. Giles and his daughters, Victoria Percifeld, Heather Lucent, and Paulina Giles.  Paul is also survived by his brothers,  Ernie Cole, Bryan Brakeman, and Mona Blackburn.

Mr. Giles served in the U.S. Army, was a Long Distance Truck Driver, Prison Guard, Contractor and retired from Phillips Petroleum. After retirement he made Throckmorton, TX, his home. He loved his God, his wife, his children and  his pets. He could often be seen mowing in his pecan orchard and working around his home. Remembering him will not be hard, forgetting that he is gone will be painful.

He left us in the early morning, When softly came the dawn. And since he never said good-bye, It's hard to think he's gone. Oh, he left us weeping, Lonely with aching hearts. But we know the angels are keeping him, Where sweet joys will never part. Our Daddy, you left us, Yourface we'll see no more, But we will carry on to meet you, On that Celestial shore.
