Paula Garcia, 84, a long time resident of Haskell, TX, passed away December 14, 2017. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. George Catholic Church with Father Chaco officiating. Burial will follow services at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A Rosary is planned for 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd St., Haskel, TX.
Paula was born November 11, 1933 in Encino, TX to Francisca (Calderon) and Florentino Salas. She married Chano Garcia in January of 1954. She was a member at St. George Catholic Church, and loved being active in any way possible. She liked playing bingo, and going to garage sales. Paula loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Diana Nichols of Tampa, FL, and Silvia Escobedo of Austin; son, Homer Garcia of Haskell; two sisters, Martina Vasquez of Corpus Christi, and Francisca Rodriguez of Corpus Christi; brother, Gavino Salas of Alice; six grandchildren, Monica Nichols, Christian Nichols, Jennifer Garcia, Tim Escobedo, Jr., and Jeremiah Escobedo; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Francisca (Calderon); father, Florentino Salas; husband, Chano Garcia; son, Rene Garcia; grandson, Moe Baby; five brothers; and three sisters.
