Peggy Jeannette Harrington, lifelong resident of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning on May 14, 2022. Mrs. Harrington was 87. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton.
Peggy was born January 13, 1935, in Levi, TX to FR & Matilda Hahn. She was the youngest of seven children. A graduate of Waco High School, Peggy went on to earn her undergraduate degree at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She extended her educated with several master's degrees of which her main degree being in Education from Sam Houston State in Huntsville, TX.
She moved to Throckmorton with her husband Larry Paul Harrington in 1972. She chose a career in education as a teacher with many years of service in Throckmorton. She loved teaching her students and keeping up with their successes. She worked with the Texas State Board of Education reviewing textbooks for Texas school curriculum. Teaching was her passion. She also thoroughly enjoyed farming with her husband Larry when she was not in the classroom. She was not afraid to speak up when she thought someone was not being treated respectfully. She continued overseeing the farm operations after Larry's passing in 2014.
Peggy was a devoted believer in Christ and spent many nights listing to her favorite Christian music. One of her all-time favorites was Tennessee Ernie Ford.
In recent years she enjoyed the constant companionship of her loyal dog, Precious and cat Tiddles. They were her pride and joy.
She loved them dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Paul Harrington, parents, FR & Matilda Hahn; 2 brothers; 4 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
