Raymond Paulworth Paulson

Raymond Paulworth Paulson, 70, of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026.

A memorial service celebrating Ray’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at The Christian Center in Throckmorton, Texas, with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Ray was born on April 20, 1956, in Beaumont, Texas, to Paul and Geneva (Pittman) Paulson. He married Sara “Edie” Shumate in Throckmorton, Texas, on October 17, 1996.

He was a contractor who loved helping others. He also loved fishing, dancing, and spending time with his grandchildren, and with the love of his life, Edie.

Ray is survived by his wife, Edie; his son, Billy Shumate and wife April of Aransas Pass, Texas; two daughters, Sarah Heatley and husband Kevin of Breckenridge, Texas and Trisha McCarn of Warner, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Geneva Pittman and Paul Paulson, and many loved ones.
