Richard "Gramps" Kemp

Richard "Gramps" Kemp, 70, of Throckmorton, TX, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 9:00a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Funeral Home Chapel, Throckmorton with Rev. Gene King officiating. Burial will follow services at the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 7:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the funeral Home, 107 N. Austin, Throckmorton, TX.

Richard was born October 9, 1947 in Plainview, to Alice (Lancaster) and Lawson Kemp. He married Judy Snyder on November 17, 1990 in Albany, TX. Richard served in the United States Army. He retired from Fina and later Bronte County. He loved garage sales, reading, fishing, antiquing, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Kemp of Throckmorton; five daughters, Kathy Lisle and husband Matt of Elbert, Tami Schroeder and husband Roy of Wichita Falls, Pam Burdine and husband Greg of Angleton, Mary Sparks and husband Jeremy of Big Spring, and Mary Kemp of Coleman; two sons, Sam Kemp and wife Vicki of Coleman, and Andy Kemp and wife Sandra Carmona of Odessa, FL; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; sister, Gail Thrasher of plainview; and his beloved dog, Wylie.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice (Lancaster) Kemp; father, Lawson Kemp; and two brothers, Johnny Kemp, and David Kemp.
