Richard William Stamm

December 8, 1951 — March 1, 2014

Richard Stamm, formally of Throckmorton, Texas and most recently of Ft. Worth, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Harris SW Hospital in Ft. Worth. Mr. Stamm was 62. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. Interment immediately following at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Wednesday evening, March 5 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 107 N. Austin.

Richard William was born in Guam on December 8, 1951 to Betty (Rankin) and Col. Eugene Stamm. He went to grade school through high school in California, Colorado, Louisiana, and Arkansas and settled in Texas where he finished high school at Southwest High School in Fort Worth. He attended Tarrant County Jr. College for a short time. Richard was a bargain shopper, loved the flea market, garage sales, and Goodwill. A wonderful cook and years ago would do cooking demonstrations in the Home Economics class at Throckmorton High School as well as substitute teaching. He worked for many years at Woodson Supply Company in Woodson. Richard collected Indian Artifacts and raised Quarter Horses. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Valerie Stamm and Sally Coker; and one nephew, Austin Stamm.

Richard is survived by his son, Travis Stamm and his wife Pamela of Throckmorton; his parents, Col. Eugene and Mrs. Betty Stamm of Fort Worth; 2 brothers, Mark Stamm and wife Belinda of Ft. Worth, Bud Stamm and wife Annette of Richland Hills, Texas; and 1 grandchild, Shelby Stamm of Throckmorton.

Serving as pallbearers for Richard are Travis Stamm, Mark Stamm, Bud Stamm, Clayton Stamm, Ryan Coker, and J.C. Mathews. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Kavecki, Tom Coker, Rob Rankin, and Ricky Bob Rankin.
