Rickey Dean Boles, 73, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Rule Cemetery in Rule, Texas under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00 to 7:00pm, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Rule Funeral Home, located at 600 Robins Ave. Rule, TX 79547.
Rick was born in Winnsboro, Texas, on November 19th, 1951, to Harrison "Cooter" Lynn Boles and Maurice (Sparks) Boles. He grew up with a strong work ethic, and a knack for making people feel important.
Rick attended Old Glory High School, where he excelled in Basketball. He prided himself on being a farmer, who had a green-thumb and a wonderful joy of growing things and then giving away the yield to neighbors, family and friends, just to share the blessing. His past accomplishments included being a Mason in the Rule, TX chapter and a Deacon/Treasurer of Sweethome Baptist Church.
In his younger years, He married Imogene Woodson and together they raised two children, Michelle & Cooter and eventually settled in Abilene, TX. After the sudden passing of Imogene, Rick remarried Gail Torregrossa, and they had a blended family with her three children from her previous marriage after the passing of her husband.
He dedicated his life to Mrs. Baird's Bakery, working as a route salesman for 25 years. Then he worked at Walmart in Stamford for 6 years in the Bakery at first and then the Electronics Department, helping many people, especially the elderly, by explaining little things like how to work their remote.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who loved him. His stories, laughter, and love will live on in all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gail Boles, daughter Michelle Dennis, son Cooter Boles and his wife Lacey and their daughter Avery, step-son Terry Torregrossa and his son Zane Torregrossa and his wife Des, and daughter Zoey Torregrossa, step-daughter Carrie Whitecotton and her husband Tommy Whitecotton and son Jace, step-daughter Christy Torregrossa. His sister Mary Houston, his brother Donald Boles and his wife Anita; his sister Cynthia Harrison and her husband Steve, and many nieces, nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison "Cooter" Lynn and Maurice Boles and his older brother, Roy Boles, his older sister Francel Hamlett, his brother-in-law Sam Houston. His first wife, Imogene.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Haskell Nursing Home for treating Rick like family and for the wonderful care and compassion they showed him in his final days.
