Rita Kay Lawson

Rita Kay Lawson, a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmorther, was a life-long resident of Throckmorton, Texas, and passed away late Friday evening, April 17, 2015 at United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 68. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the New Life Assembly of God with Sister Joyce Evens officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Rita was born December 6, 1946 in Brownfield, Texas, to Joe Herod and Reba (Coursey) Herod. Her passions were reading, crafting, spending time with family, and her dog, Molly. Kay will be dearly missed and forever loved.

She is preceded in death by her son, Terry Lynn Hudson; husband, H.T. Lawson; and her parents, Joe and Reba (Coursey) Herod.

Rita Kay is survived by her sons, Tommie Hudson and wife Betsy of Columbia, Illinois and Troy Hudson and his wife Melissa of Throckmorton, Texas; six grandchildren, Thomas, Kayla, Brandy, Kriten, Travis, Terren, and spouses; nine great-grandchildren, Katrina, Katy-ann, Travis, Shelby, Truitt, Gresham, Brooke, Emily, and Klaire; one brother, Gary Herod of Throckmorton, Texas; and one sister, Joetta Cowley of Jacksboro, Texas.
