Roger Louis Norton, 76, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2012 in Kerrville, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Knox City with Rev. Jim McCurley officiating. Burial and Marine Funeral Honors will follow at Knox City Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Roger was born in Seymour, Texas to Louis and Thelma Norton on July 9, 1936. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1956. He began service in the U.S. Marine Corps on October 9, 1956 and served until October 8, 1962. Roger has a loving 54 year marriage to June Large beginning on July 3, 1958. He worked hard as a skilled carpenter for 51 years. Roger was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by parents, Louis and Thelma Norton; and son, Roger Dale Norton.
He is survived by spouse, June Norton; daughters, Connie Melton and Angie Coons; sister, Helen Harris; grandchildren, Brandon Melton, Colten Coons, and Cassidy Coons; and great-granddaughter, Natalie Melton.
